Saturday Morning

Do you remember your Saturday mornings? Watching cartoons in your jammies? the weekday routine thrown asunder? Well, actually, I woke to a Beethoven symphony while my dad made pancakes. But you get the idea.

Here's our "family" room. You can tell I use the term "family" loosely, since Boo seems to have taken over:

I read your post while watching Saturday Morning Cartoons with Chae, while sharing a box of powdered sugar donuts. Jeff is sleeping in. I'm catching up on blogs and reading through my new Weekend Sewing book. Ahh. Saturdays. Somehow more special knowing there are friends relaxing in the same way.

Oh thank God I am not the only one whose living room looks like this. Really my whole house looks like this. Though I wouldn't have it any other way.

Thanks for your comment and honesty. I'd like to pull a quote from your comment. Let me know if it is OK. Your Boo is darling.

I remember days ( ok, actually years!) when my entire house looked "a mess". Even our own bedroom was not immune. It used to make me nuts (and embarrassed when unexpected guests dropped by!) but with working part time and 3 kids, something had to give. A friend once told me that when the kids grew up it wouldn't be the clean, neat rooms that they would remember- they would remember the things we did that kept me from keeping such a house. I so wanted that to be true and it was my mantra on many a day when my sanity was at stake. Now that Adam is on his own, Jess in college and Christi ready to embark on married life, I can look back and say those were wise words- I have plenty of time now to keep things neat and organized (even to the point of organizing those photos to prove I was doing other "fun" things with the kids instead of cleaning!) BUT...I think I prefer the chaos of earlier days in a way...
