Easy For You to Say

From Fox Chase Cancer Center website, and other breast cancer sites:

Women who have had a lumpectomy, in which only a segment of the
breast is removed, usually do not need reconstructive surgery.

One of the most sensitive and meaningful areas of my body might become mangled and disfigured. But reconstruction is "not needed." Very sensitive and meaningful of you, O Cancer Center.

Yeah, leave it to the medical field to rip your heart out and stomp on it.

Have you decided to go straight for the lumpectomy and bypass the biopsy?

You have my prayers and best wishes for your health and well being.
As a "survivor" I can honestly says that whoever wrote "Women who have had a lumpectomy, in which only a segment of the
breast is removed, usually do not need reconstructive surgery. " is full of doo-doo.
1. Not all lumpectonies are small.
2. No one, not anyone in this world can tell me or you or any woman that we don't need reconstructive surgery. That is something only those who have had one can decide, and no mdical personnel should ever try and decide for us, ever.
